NASCAR Race to the Chase 1 Week Away

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is heating up with only one week before the start of NASCAR’s equivalency to a playoff.  This week’s race at Richmond will be a fight for the bubble drivers vying for the final spots in the Chase for the Cup.  Eight drivers have clinched positions in the Chase and which leaves 4 positions up for grabs.  Realistically, the drivers currently in positions 9-12 should be joining the chase, but anything can happen.  Earnhardt Jr. (currently in 9th) and Stewart (currently 10th) are in great positions to make the Chase if they can finish the race Saturday in Richmond.

Jimmie Johnson Poised to Win Another NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship

With 8 races remaining in the 2010 NASCAR Chase, Jimmie Johnson is sitting right where he wants to be...and where the rest of the field hates to see him.  Jimmie is second in points with 8 races remaining.  Since the points system has been implemented, Jimmie Johnson has dominated the NASCAR series winning the cup in each of the last 4 seasons.  Let’s face it…it’s almost like Jimmie was consulted about the change in the points process before implementing the Chase and Jimmie made sure the new process favored the California native. 

Ok…so that’s a stretch, but how can anyone deny  the fact that the new points system has turned Jimmie Johnson from a great new ...

Talladega...Never a Dull Moment

What a day at Talladega!  When the NASCAR boys arrive at Talladega you know that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in full swing.  As usual, Talladega brought excitement, generated tons of scrap metal, and brought normally cool heads to the brink of boiling over.  Who would have thought just a couple of short years ago that Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson would be anything but great friends and supportive teammates?  Once again, in a continuing trend, Jimmie and Jeff ended the day on less than great terms.  The move by Jimmie late in the race to block Jeff (when he had a great run and a full head of steam) added one more log on the fire.  In this writer's opinion, ...
