The jump ball was the closest UNC got to competing with Duke last night. The Blue Devils came out looking for blood, and they found it.

Duke scored the first 14 points of the game and held that lead for the entire night, UNC could not ever manage to get the game back within single digits. The Blue Devils were simply too much for the stone cold Heels.

Duke was lead last night by seniors Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry, who scored a combined 43 points. Quinn Cook also scored in double figures, while Ryan Kelly added 8 points. Plumlee had a game high 13 rebounds as Duke out rebounded UNC 31-27.

The real story tonight for UNC was how bad they shot the ball. The Tar Heels were just shy of 34% from the field and they shot an anemic 1 for 14 from beyond the arc.

The thing to take away from this game is that Duke is clearly the best team in the country when Ryan Kelly is playing. Even though he was not a huge factor on the scoreboard tonight, he contributed in an invaluable way. Kelly creates a matchup nightmare for any team, he is a big man that is just as likely to step back and drill a three as he is to post up down low. With him on the court teams must stay with him at all times, and that leaves no room for any double-teaming on Mason Plumlee. When Plumlee gets one on one in the post he is deadly.

Duke is undefeated this season with Ryan Kelly on the court, and they are poised to stay that way. After taking care of things in Greensboro next weekend, where they will be heavy favorites to win the ACC Tourny, Duke will most likely be headed to a number 1 overall seed and set up shop in the East Bracket. From there, Duke will attempt to do what Coach K has done 11 times in his career, reach the Final Four. Once in Atlanta it is anyones game, but rest assured, if Dukes makes it to the Georgia Dome, the senior leadership of Seth Curry, Mason Plumlee and Ryan Kelly just may be enough to give Duke its 5th National Championship.
