Tiger Woods still #1 / Phil Mickelson chokes again?

Honestly, I was a little undecided about what to title this article.  Although Tiger Woods is still #1 in the world and shot a 3 under 68 in the final round yesterday, to me, the bigger story is Phil Mickelson shooting plus 5 in the final round only to choke at taking that elusive #1 spot away from Tiger yet again. First of all, I personally could care less about who’s #1 and who’s trying to get there...I just want to see golfers battling it out on the course to win tournaments and make it fun to watch while doing so. But apparently this #1 spot in the world means a whole lot to Phil Mickelson as he has said several different times that it does. Of course to me, him choking and falling apart on the final round (as we’re all so used to seeing!) screams to me that he wants it a little too badly.

Just play golf, Phil...stop worrying about 'one upping' Tiger Woods and do your thing! You’re never going to be better than Tiger; you’re never going to get even close to Tiger's number of majors or PGA tournament wins. You may one day take that #1 spot in the world away from him by mere default, but that will certainly not mean that you're a better golfer than Tiger, I’m sorry to tell you, but it’s the truth.

All I’m saying is Phil, if being #1 means that much to you, you'd better earn that top spot soon because Tiger is slowly but surely finding his game. This is extremely bad news for you and the rest of the golfing world because when Tiger's game is found, lights out to you and everyone else on tour. You think Tiger dominated before…just wait till he finds his game once again.
